Ibom Air: Akwa Ibom Launches State Airline
Feb 20th, 2019

The launch of IBOMAIR is really an amazing and refreshing achievement to see. After months of planning to own state carrier, the Akwa Ibom state government finally launches a government-owned airline. Earlier this year, the state government acquired 3 aircrafts for this purpose.

Today, the government launched the airline at Victor Attah Airport.

Akwa Ibom State Coommissioner for Special Duties and Aviation Development, Akan Okon stated that the government decided to join other airline operating in the state due to the constant traffic the state airport generates.

“Ibom Air has come to stay. I am happy to tell you that we have completed recruitment with good number of Akwa Ibom children. The Chief Pilot is from Akwa Ibom. Three aircraft are secured and are ready for commencement of operation. It is completely owned and operated by Akwa Ibom State Government and it will provide 400 direct and indirect jobs”

Meanwhile, people have been throwing shades at the Federal Government for their failure to implement the country’s national carrier.

Akwa Ibow has set a good example and we hope other states and even the country as a whole can follow lead.
