North Korea and South Korea are now besties!!!

Friday was a good day in Korea as history was made. The South and North Korean leaders agreed on complete denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula. The summit came after months of warlike rhetoric from the North.

On Friday morning, North Korea president emerged from a North Korean administrative building inside Panmunjom and walked toward the border line, where South Korea president, Mr. Moon was waiting. The two leaders smiled and shook hands across a concrete slab that marks the border bisecting Panmunjom. Later, President Kim stepped across the border.

Since the end of war in Korea in 1953, no North Korean leader has ever set foot in South Korea. But Mr Kim sets record as he becomes the first North Korea leader to set foot in South Korea. The impact of the North Korean President setting foot in South Korea for the first time cannot be underestimated.

President Kim Jong Un has promised to ensure that the agreement that was reached with the President Moon at the summit would be implemented.

“The two Koreas will closely coordinate to ensure they did not repeat the unfortunate history in which past inter-Korea agreements…fizzled out after beginning” “there may be backlash, hardship and frustration on our way, but a victory cannot be achieved without pain”

President Donald Trump, while in Washington declared the agreement between the two leaders at the historic summit. He tweeted

The USA President has planned to hold meeting with the North Korean President in late May or early June.

Today, the South Korea’s Presidential office said the North Korean leader Kim Jong Un will shut down his nuclear test site in May and invite experts and journalists from South Korea and the United States into the country to ensure “transparency” around its closure. This is a latest breakthrough ahead of the meeting between the President Trump and President Kim.

OUR THOUGHT

We think President Trump deserves some credits for bringing North Korea to the table. The unification of North and South Koran has set a good example for other countries in the world. Unification of the two countries will not only bring peace for the two countries but also to the whole world.
