Finally, there is an airport in the world with emergency room. Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport has hit a milestone of becoming the first airport to have an emergency room.

DFW airport collaborated with Code 3 ER and has opened a full emergency room at the airport.

The emergency room will serve passengers and airport workers who need urgent medical help. The emergency room is located in a place where it is easy and fast to locate from the airport terminals. It takes about one minute to get to the room from any of the airport terminals.

Since the launch of the emergency room, health officials have already commenced work. Airport workers and some passengers have been receiving treatment from the room. Speaking with WFAA, the CEO of Code 3 said,

“We had one woman that had chest pains and we checked for a clot”

Apart from the normal daily cases of emergencies, the staff of the facility have been trained to manage disastrous cases. Cases such as outbreak of Ebola disease and plane crashes.

Code 3 is currently looking out for airports to construct more emergency rooms.

“I think that there’s definitely a need. Not every single airport that’s out there can sustain having an emergency department. I do think it’s a great model and a need that I would like to see expanding. We definitely hope to see it expand not only in the United States but potentially throughout the world.”

Finally, one of the improvements we want in airports has happened. We hope to see it expand to other airports, especially Nigeria airports very soon.
