Our nomad of the week today is Charles E. He is a solo traveler who loves to explore and desires to visit amazing destinations in the world. He is an adventurous man who makes good use of his leave and holidays to travel the world. So far, he has been to over 30 countries and still plans to travel around the world. WHAT DETERMINES YOUR DESTINATION OF CHOICE?

Ease of obtaining visa and places with a wide variety of activities/attractions

WHAT IS THE ONE THING YOU CAN’T DO WITHOUT WHEN TRAVELING?

My camera!

WHAT IS THE MOST MEMORABLE THING YOU HAVE DONE ON YOUR VACATION?

The hike to Pedra do Telegrafo, Rio!

WHERE IS YOUR BEST TRAVEL DESTINATION SO FAR?

This is a difficult one because every destination has been memorable in a unique way but I’d probably go for The Maldives.

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO BE A SOLO TRAVELER?

The desire to explore those amazing destinations on my own terms.

FROM OUR OBSERVATION, MEN DO NOT REALLY LIKE TO TRAVEL. DO YOU THINK THIS IS TRUE? IS IT THAT THEY ARE NOT AS ADVENTUROUS AS THE WOMEN? 

I’m not sure about that. I would have thought the reverse was the case!

HOW DO YOU MANAGE TO COPE WITH WORK AND TRAVEL?

I travel as a way to relieve the stress of work. I try to make good use of my leave and holidays

HAVE YOU EVER HAD DIFFICULTY PLANNING AND EXECUTING A TRIP? IF YES, WHAT TRIP WAS IT?

Not really. If I put my mind to it, I try to get it done.

YOUR PHOTOS FROM YOUR BRAZIL TRIP ARE SO AMAZING AND WE FEEL LIKE VISITING ALREADY. TELL US THREE MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT THE COUNTRY AND WHY YOU THINK NIGERIANS SHOULD VISIT? 

I think the biggest misconception is that the country is not safe. This is a country that has successfully hosted the World Cup and Olympics and attracts millions of visitors every year!

Brazil has so much more to offer than beautiful beaches and carnival!

Brazil shares a lot of things in common with Nigeria including food, music and dance.

 

HOTELS OR HOSTELS?

Hotels most times.

YOU MUST HAVE BEEN ON A GROUP TRIP BEFORE. COMPARED TO SOLO TRAVEL, WHICH DO YOU PREFER?

Solo travel by far. I cherish being able to explore places at my own pace

THREE DESTINATIONS YOU WILL RECOMMEND FOR MALE SOLO TRAVELERS AND WHY?

Rio de Janeiro – for the excellent night life and variety of activities

Melbourne – artsy, great night life, youthful population

Zanzibar – great beaches, affordable

YOU HAVE BEEN TO OVER 30 COUNTRIES. WHAT COUNTRIES ARE YOU PLANNING TO EXPLORE NEXT?

China, Haiti, South Africa!

Be adventurous but never compromise safety. Dare to wander off the beaten track. There is so much to learn from travelling so keep an open mind.
