Nigeria is now added to the list of countries not eligible for Visa on Arrival (VOA) to Tanzania.
Just about 2 days ago, the Tanzanian government stopped issuing Visa on arrival to Nigerians and few other countries.
As luck will have it, there are two other ways you can get a visa to Tanzania from Nigeria;
The first way is going to the Tanzanian Embassy in Abuja to apply. The Embassy office is located at 21, Yedseram Street Opposite ALGON Building P.M.B 5125 Wuse Abuja
Telephone number: (+234) 92914801/3/4
Email address: info@tanzaniahighcommissionng.com
The other way is to have a host get it for you. The host could be a resident or registered tour agent in Tanzania (please ensure the host is registered with the immigration and also has license to carry out the process) get it for you.
Luck was on our side as we recently got back from Tanzania a day before the Tanzanian government made the change to visa on arrival for Nigerians and few other countries. Upon getting the news of non issuance of VOA to Nigerian tourists, we contacted our host, African Escapes, and they provided us with some requirements to help Nigerians get a visa to Tanzania. The requirements are
- photocopy of your passport page
- Scanned passport sized photo
- Hotel booking
- Flight reservation
- Payment for visa fee.
However, tourists are required to book either their accommodation, tours or transfer through the Tanzanian host.
Once the host confirms visa payment, the visa fee will be paid in Tanzania and if your visa is approved, you will get an email notification. The original copy of your visa will be sent to the airport you will be landing while the soft copy of the visa will also be sent to you so you can present at the point of entry.
P.S: the process takes at least 2 weeks.
