Congratulatory message gone wrong!!!

Nigerians on Twitter always look for the slightest opportunity to “drag” the Nigerian government and the opportunity showed itself. The official account of the Federal Government of Nigeria @asorock tweeted a congratulatory message to the newly elected President of Russia. The tweet stated that Russia was an “Asian Country” and Nigerian twitter went crazy.

TWITTER USERS REACTIONS

While some people found the grammatical error in the tweet, many have criticized the tweet for the wrong information.

Yes, it is human to err, but after the mistake nko? You mean to say after 4 hours, nobody on the Media team on which billions are expended has noticed this blunder?

"Sincere Congratulations" to the person who tweeted this, for this serious diplomatic blunder & poor grasp of written English.

Some of them actually tried to educate us on the Russia dynamics and we are thankful for that…

SURPRISE! RUSSIA IS BOTH EUROPEAN AND ASIAN

Russia is both in Asia and Europe and we’ll leave you with this link to read all about it. We are always so quick to pick holes when the government says something. A quick google search would have gone a long way.

Just like Turkey, Russia is a country that falls in the European and Asian Continents. Culturally and politically, it’s more European, geographically, it’s more Asian.

We need to get more information about things before we criticize. The government may not have delivered as we expected, but not everything they say is always wrong. Well, in case you didn’t know this before, Russia is just like Turkey. It’s European and Asian!

Nomad notes: interested in visiting Russia? There’s no better time than now. The World Cup is almost here and entry to Russia is totally visa free! Check out our post on FIFA 2018 to know how.
