Hi Everyone, so just earlier today we got this news of air namibia suspending it’s Windhoek – Lagos – Accra route effective today, Friday 24 May 2019.

The statement released which read as follows

“Air Namibia hereby wishes to inform the flying public and esteemed stakeholders that the national airline of the Republic of Namibia will suspend its Windhoek – Lagos – Accra route effective today, Friday 24 May 2019”.

Naija Nomads however started their 2019 group trips with a trip to Swakopmund and Windhoek in Namibia. It was during this trip we had our fair share of being maltreated by airport officials. We were delayed for over 2 hours before being finally allowed entry. The reason for the delay, still remains a mystery!

Apart from our experience, there had been similar experiences encountered by other Nigerians, thanks to the internet. This and more led to Namibian nationals being banned from getting visas to come to Nigeria. And also because of the information going round that Namibia is “anti-Nigeria”.

If there is anything we are right now is happy. Because we still don’t understand why a country will just get to being hostile against another.

Our sources however informed us that the suspension of flights by Air Namiba is an act to foster the two countries relationship. With this being done, both countries can now come together  to discuss the way forward for both countries.

Nigeria needs to more active in the international stage in reducing and dealing with discriminating actions against its citizens anywhere they find themselves. Just the same way an american citizen can”t be treated anyhow anywhere in the world.
