When planning a vacation, what determines your destination of choice?

I’m a very curious person so I usually just pick a country based on my interest. I’m enthusiastic about culture, history and adventure which is present in every country so it’s never really a hard decision-making process to pick a destination. Aside from these, money is a factor because I am not “Omo Dangote” but I make up for it by saving towards a destination that will cost more than I’m usually willing to spend. Visa is another major factor. We all know how hectic it is applying for one so I tend to gravitate more towards African countries. At least they won’t ask me to bring my Daddy’s head before they give me a visa.

What is the one thing you cannot do without when you travel?

My Camera. I’m working on improving my Travel and Documentary Photography so I would beat myself up if I ever forget to travel without it. Please can I add one more thing?

Most memorable thing you have done during a holiday.

I walked with Lions and went Cage diving with Nile crocodiles in Victoria falls, Zimbabwe. Bungee jumping would have made the list but I chickened-out after being strapped on the harness and got on the deck. It was like I was staring death in the face. I’m really scared of heights and I attempted to use bungee jumping to conquer my fear. How silly of me!

BOLD!

Every avid traveler has a travel bucket list.

I really don’t like to call it a bucket list more like Must-Dos.

Hot air ballooning in Cappadocia

Summit Kilimanjaro

Back-pack West Africa (We should try to explore our backyard)

Photograph Aurora Borealis in the Northern Hemisphere (Sweden, Finland or Canada) and the list goes on.

What is your favorite travel quote?

All and none really! But I’ll say this, Travel helps to break the boring routine of daily life. Do not take it for granted!

What is your dream destination?

Japan! I’m fascinated by their attention to detail and I love the culture. I want to understand how a  densely populated country is really CLEAN!!! Are they humans at all? I’ve actually applied for a visa once there but I was denied (the pains of traveling on a Nigerian passport). Asides Japan, South Korea (for culture, technology and K-pop; Yes I listen to K-pop music), Egypt (for the history), Argentina (for culture and to visit Patagonia).

Anything else you would like to add?

Traveling solo is the best way to travel. It forces you to get out of your comfort zone.Never have a preconceived idea about a destination. You’ll be surprised that they have more to offer than you can imagine. You may end up having the shittiest experiences in over hyped places. Never let fear stop you from traveling. Nowhere is safe! NOWHERE!!! Not even your home.Travel is not as expensive and portrayed. Don’t act as if you’ll die if you don’t stay in a five-star hotel. Get a hostel, eat street food, explore on foot and most importantly, LIVE!!! Let loose when you’re away from home. Don’t be afraid to get messy and try new things when you travel.
