Ethiopian Airlines Makes Its First Flight to Eritrea After 20 Years

After two decades of being enemies, Ethiopia and Eritrea finally signed agreement to end the long-term enmity about a week ago. The agreement was signed when Ethiopian’s Prime Minister made his first visit to Eritrea and was received by Eritrea’s President.

At the agreement signing between the two nations last week, the Ethiopian’s Prime Minister mentioned that citizens of the two nations can now move freely between the countries.

”We agreed that the airlines will start operating, ports will be accessible, people can move between the two countries and the embassies will re-open.”

Following the declaration of peace, Ethiopian Airlines made its first flight to Asmara, Eritrea after 20 years.

The airline made the significant flight from Ethiopia yesterday. While on board, the passengers were excited to fly to Eritrea after a very long time. Many of them were taking selfies and cabin crew presented roses.

According to the CEO of Ethiopian Airlines, the resumption of flights to Asmara will boost the commercial, tourism, financial and many other sectors in the two countries.
