It was all a dream… *cues in beat from famous notorious BIG song*
But the truth it, it wasn’t. Having an online travel company has never been in the pipeline. It really just happened by accident. Here’s how it started…
While studying for a Masters Degree in the U.K, our founder got intrigued by the diversity and uniqueness of her classmates. Everyone had an interesting story about their country, different from what the media tells you. She got curious, excited to know more and went on her first off the beaten adventure to Marrakech, Morocco. With no fear of extreme weather conditions or desert snakes, she spend the night at the Sahara Desert with Berber Nomads…hence the name, Naija Nomads :).
If it takes spending the night at the Sahara desert in Morocco to be positive, you better get on with it!

Who would have thought a simple online journal will flourish into a travel company that creates and curates’ experiences for Green passport holders (the Nigerian traveler)? As a Nigerian, being adventurous comes with its challenges and after trip, everyone expects travel tips from you! It’s not because there are no resources online, there are tons of resources online. The reason is simple. Nigerian’s could not relate to the resources online. Our struggle is quite different and most travel platforms do not address this struggle. And so Naija Nomads started, first as an online journal of our Head Nomad to share her experiences with friends and family. Secondly as a platform to address these struggles; visa issues, limited airline carrier’s, horrible treatment at POE because you have a green passport etc. In April 2015, we published our first blog post and June 2017, we organized our first major Green Passport Friendly trip to Rwanda.
“We are not tour guides nor travel agents/travel experts/tour operators/travel specialists/travelprenuers/tra
vel influencers. We love to call ourselves “EXPERIENCE CURATORS” because it just sounds so fancy!”
We curate and create unique experiences for the green passport holder. So imagine an online platform where you get all the latest travel news around the world, learn all the tips and tricks of traveling with a green passport, get inspiration from or inspiring fellow green passport travelers, sign up for their uniquely curated group trips, put in a request for a personalized trip, get itineraries for green passport friendly destinations or generally just banter about how frustrating our passport is! Let’s just call it THE GREEN PASSPORT MOVEMENT.
We have curated numerous experiences for both individuals and groups within and outside Nigeria and our focus is inspiring Nigerians to see the world regardless of our intercontinental and international barriers! Visa applications should not discourage you from seeing the world! There are over 40 countries you can visit hassle free. To enquire about our group trips send us an email on firstname.lastname@example.org.
